Shrewsbury shape (was the Berlin shape)

Shrewsbury shape (was the Berlin shape)

Pattern 4246

Shrewsbury shape tea cup having a border moulding of a distinctive double S-Scroll in the form of an acanthus leaf alternating with a flattened anthemion. Cups have a modified form of the 'D' handle but with a more pronounced upper spur on top of the handle.

Actually called the Berlin shape in the pattern book but named Shrewsbury by Michael Berthoud prior to his discovery of the relevant pattern book.
